While Newcastle United have made no big squad additions in any of the last three transfer windows, there have been plenty of transfer stories to keep us occupied.
One thing that many fans have noticed is just how many of those transfer rumours pertain to players already playing in the Premier League.
It does make sense that Eddie Howe would prefer players with Premier League experience as it takes a risk out of a move, but the suggestion that Eddie Howe is only interested in English players or players from Premier League clubs is quite a leap in logic.
Looking at Newcastle's biggest signings since the takeover will tell you that there's no real Premier League bias.

Marc Guehi remains a priority target for Newcastle United
Newcastle aren't just targeting Premier League players
The Athletic have tackled this subject in a report today, and they claim that club insiders are very keen to dispel the myth that Eddie Howe has a preference for English or Premier League players, insisting that the only non-negotiable is that the club signs the right player.
While a lot of the transfer rumours so far this summer have involved Premier League players, it's also worth noting that The Telegraph have mentioned a couple of times now that the club are proud of the fact that their foreign transfer business is still being kept mostly secret.
Indeed, that has often been the case when it comes to signing players from abroad. Alexander Isak and Sandro Tonali seemed to come out of nowhere. By the time journalists had picked up on the scent, those deals were practically done.

Newcastle are capable of springing a transfer surprise
This doesn't mean, of course, that there's no truth to the rumours surrounding Premier League players.
Marc Guehi, Joao Pedro and Anthony Elanga have been touted as potential targets for so long now that it's hard to imagine that there's no truth in those rumours.
Our bet, though, is that Newcastle will surprise a few people this summer when we sign someone from overseas.
