Lille striker Jonathan David
Jonathan David has plenty to offer Manchester United
If everything goes to plan for Manchester United in the coming weeks, they would have spent £120million on two new players.
Matheus Cunha became United's first signing of the summer after his £62.5m release clause at Wolves was triggered. The fee will be split across three instalments with the Brazilian signing a five-year contract with the option of an additional year.
The next new addition expected to be signed is Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo. United's opening offer of £45m plus £10m in add-ons was rejected with the Bees valuing him at around £60m.
All roads lead to Cunha and Mbeumo being the first names through the door before Jason Wilcox's attention turns to recruiting a striker. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both struggled in front of goal last term and it's anticipated that a new number nine will be prioritised.
Viktor Gyokeres appears to be one of the leading candidates after scoring 97 goals in two seasons for Sporting CP. Various reports have indicated different things but Arsenal are understood to be the Sweden international's preferred destination.
As an alternative, Victor Osimhen is also an uncertainty. Both players will cost in excess of £70m, a deal which United will struggle to pay unless they successfully sell certain players. Cheaper selections, such as Jean-Phillipe Mateta, have been tipped, but there's one striker that seems to be completely forgotten about.
Jonathan David is yet to find a new club ahead of the expiry of his contract at Lille. United have reportedly had the Canada international on their radar for around two years but have never formally made a move.
Last season, David scored 25 goals and assisted a further 12 assists and was linked with a move to Old Trafford in January. However, with him set to become a free agent at the end of the month, he's still available.

Inter Milan, Juventus and Fenerbahce are all battling it out for his signature but no deal has yet been agreed. It leaves the door open for United to swoop in and land him, saving Wilcox millions.
In spite of this, there is one complication. At the end of March, Sky Sport Switzerland [via FCInterNews] reported one thing that has forced interested parties to look elsewhere is the players financial idealisation.
The 25-year-old is aiming for a salary worth €9m (£7.6m) - around £145k-per-week - as well as a whopping €15m (£12.7m) sign-on bonus and €10m (£8.5m) in agent fees. That would make the deal worth just over £20m despite being a 'free' signing.
However, that is still less than the figures discussed for Gyokeres, Osimhen, Mateta or Hugo Ekitike. Bringing in David also frees up more funds to be spent on other targets in midfield or defence.
