Soccer Aid star Angry Ginge once revealed his pick for the greatest player in Premier League history, snubbing the likes of Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah. The streamer – real name Morgan Burtwistle – has risen to fame in the football social media sphere, which led to him putting in a man-of-the-match performance during the charity game at Old Trafford that raised in excess of £15 million.
A die-hard Manchester United fan, Burtwistle ignored club legend Ronaldo when naming his Premier League 'GOAT' but did opt for another iconic figure from Old Trafford's illustrious past – and it is also a player he happens to know personally.

Angry Ginge Names Wayne Rooney as Greatest Premier League Player
Rooney is the second-highest scorer in the competitions history
Speaking to GOAL back in January, the 23-year-old revealed that he believed England and United superstar Wayne Rooney was the greatest Premier League player in history. Angry Ginge took part in an interview where he was asked whether the striker was good enough to be considered in the top 20 players, and with every time he said yes, his potential ranking improved.
Burtwistle had no doubts over the fact that Rooney was a top 20, top 10, or even top five player in the division's history, but then began to deliberate when asked if the former Evertonian deserved to be considered in the top three.
"That's where it starts to get tricky," Burtwistle admitted. "And then you question... the top goalscorer at the best club and the biggest club in the world so, yeah, he is."
There was a longer pause when the streamer was asked if Rooney was in fact the greatest player of the Premier League era, but after some time to think, Angry Ginge declared:
"He is! He is! Wayne Rooney is the greatest player to grace the Premier League."

Not only were Burtwistle and Rooney on the same team during Soccer Aid, but the links to one another go as far back as 2024. Ginge was at the forefront of popular EA FC 25 Pro Clubs team 'Girth N Turf FC,' in which he and other social media influencers played online and against other streamers.
The team also branched out into the world of sport, with darts sensation Luke Little getting involved before incredible, Rooney himself joined the lads on Twitch and began to play as part of the Girth N Turf team on a regular basis. This led to a hilarious interaction in which Rooney mistakenly believed he was going to take part in some early morning training with some of his teammates.
Regardless of this miscommunication, it did lead to a relationship being formed between he and several of the stars including Burtwistle, with some even invited to his 39th birthday party.
