It took a few minutes for Chelsea to get into the flow of things, but thankfully we didn’t waste too much time despite the preseason tour vibes in the barely quarter-full (if that) stadium in Atlanta.
LAFC were happy to sit back, defend compact, and look to counter, but we managed to create a fair few chances anyway. Nico Jackson and Cole Palmer both had decent sights at goal before Noni Madueke forced an excellent save from ex-Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
But not even Lloris could do anything about a sweet finish from Pedro Neto, who sat down his defender on the slippy surface after receiving a perfect throughball from Jackson. The powerful shot tucked inside the near post was unerring.
The second half brought more of the same, before Enzo Fernandez sealed the win ten minutes from time.
Job done.
Carefree.
* Very strong lineup from Maresca, with Enzo Fernandez the only usual starter on the bench
* Plenty of substitutions, with Chelsea getting a sixth due a to concussion sub used by LAFC in the first half
* Welcome, Liam Delap & Dario Essugo!
* Next up: Flameno on Friday in Philadelphia
