Micah Parsons is playing nice with the Dallas Cowboys. Entering the final year of his contract as one of the NFL's most notable edge rushers, Parsons understandably wants to get a new deal done.
Since the Cowboys haven't placed the desired offer on the table just yet, many expected Parsons to become one of the NFL's biggest holdout candidates this offseason. He hasn't really participated in any team activities, which is far from a surprise.
However, Parsons has been around the team, maintaining his status as a defensive leader, and keeping everybody happy. He's got a good relationship with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. The first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer couldn't say enough positive things about Parsons over the last couple of weeks.
Still, the business side needs to get done if the Cowboys want to keep it this way. One of Parsons' fellow standout edge rushers is certainly on his side, endorsing the former first-round pick as a notable extension-worthy candidate, via DLLS' Abby Jones.
"I think he deserves whatever he's earned," said Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Myles Garrett . "I mean, the guy is special. Once I got the chance to train with him, I've seen his work ethic, I've seen how he attacks the weights, running. He's 100 percent committed to his craft and getting better every day, and someone who produces on the field and has that dedication to the game. He should get every penny he's owed."
Garrett, a former first-overall pick, has been one of the most dominant defensive ends in the NFL since his first season in 2017. Over 117 games, Garrett has accumulated 352 tackles and 102.5 sacks.
The Browns' star was in a position to seek a new deal himself this offseason. Heading into March, there were rumors of a potential move for Garrett, unless the Browns gave him the lucrative extension he deserved. On March 9, the Browns announced that Garrett officially agreed to a four-year deal to stay in Cleveland through 2030.
The extension is worth a reported $160 million, with a large portion of it guaranteed.
Parsons' deal should be up there among the NFL's most expensive. Since entering the league, Parsons was named the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year. He also earned three All-Pro nods and was a Pro Bowler each season he played.
Entering his fifth year, Parsons has five seasons of experience. He totaled a combined 256 tackles and generated 52.5 sacks in 63 games. Soon, Parsons could be one of the highest paid defensive linemen in the game.
