Chelsea enjoyed a brilliant performance in their 2-0 victory over LAFC in the Club World Cup, but John Obi Mikel hijacked the post-game headlines. The former midfielder made remarks about the Blues’ inability to sign Victor Osimhen while live on DAZN.
This has already infuriated the fans, who were quick to express their disapproval of the club legend’s comments. Mikel stated:
“We needed somebody to come in and score those goals and finish those chances, but obviously he [Delap] wasn’t the guy the fans wanted, obviously we know who the fans wanted, the fans wanted Victor Osimhen to the football club, but he didn’t.”
Delap certainly looked like the correct choice following a good performance. He was brought on as a substitute, and he assisted Enzo Fernandez in scoring the second goal. Fans expressed their views on social media, slamming Obi Mikel’s remarks with posts like these:
