Antoine Semenyo celebrates after scoring for AFC Bournemouth
Antoine Semenyo has been linked with a move to Newcastle
Newcastle United will once again be looking to strengthen their squad after the summer transfer window reopened for the months ahead.
The Magpies did not add to their first-team squad during the first part of the window, prior to it closing for the Club World Cup, but their full focus will be on bolstering Eddie Howe's squad ahead of next season.
Newcastle's qualification for the Champions League will be a major boost in terms of PSR and what transfer business they'll be able to complete this summer.
With the transfer window now back open, ChronicleLive has taken a look at the latest Newcastle transfer news and rumours.
Newcastle scouting trips to watch £67m star
The Telegraph claims Newcastle United have regularly scouted Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande throughout the recent campaign as Howe's side look to bolster their options in the heart of defence.
The Ivory Coast international has a reported £67 million release clause in his current contract, with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Crystal Palace said to be keen on a move this summer.
The report claims Newcastle will also be at the negotiating table, despite the club hoping to keep their transfer targets from abroad a secret.
Luke Edwards, who writes the article, references the pursuit of Sandro Tonali back in 2023 having kept negotiations with AC Milan behind closed doors before sealing a deal.
The report claims that Marc Guehi is also still on the transfer wishlist.
Chronicle Live reported Newcastle's interest in Diomande earlier this year and Matty Hewitt says: "Newcastle are fully expected to bring in a centre-half this summer and have the money to spend, but they'll be keen to avoid a transfer tug of war with interested parties.
"Especially given the disappointment of Marc Guehi's failed move last summer. Ousmane Diomande has plenty of experience at European level and is a title winner in Portugal.
"The only thing that is concerning is how expensive Portuguese clubs seem to be able to generate in terms of transfer fees and not all of those who've made the move to the Premier League have been able to cut it."
Antoine Semenyo 'stance' amid transfer 'interest'
The i claims Newcastle have not made any contact with Bournemouth regarding a move for right-winger Antoine Semenyo despite speculation linking him with a move to St. James' Park.
Reports last week claimed the forward, who has a £70m valuation, had emerged as a possible target for the Toon but that isn't said to be the case.
Chronicle Live says: "Though many Newcastle fans would have liked to see a player of Semenyo's ilk join the Magpies this summer, for an asking price like that the club could bring in alternative targets for a cheaper fee."
