Viktor Gyokeres ticks all the boxes to become Man United's new striker
The transfer window is now officially open for business and Manchester United have their fingers in a number of pies to strengthen Ruben Amorim's squad.
United have already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves after triggering his £62.5million release clause at Wolves. They are also confident in adding Bryan Mbeumo to Amorim's team with the Brentford star understood to prefer a move to Old Trafford despite interest from Thomas Frank's Tottenham.
Further down the line, a new striker remains a priority. United recorded their worst goalscoring season in 35 years last term and their intention to recruit one early in the window hit a stumbling block after Liam Delap joined Chelsea.
Over 70 days await of transfer speculation and United will be desperate to ensure they go into the new campaign with the majority of their business complete. Below, the Manchester Evening News takes a look at the steps required to ensure they have a dream window.
Unsurprisingly, signings are the priority for United. Should Mbeumo arrive, the focus could shift more towards selling players to raise funds for further reinforcements. Worryingly, no asset has come close to leaving.

Mbeumo signs, striker chase, £40m exit - what to expect from Man United as transfer window reopens
Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho are all players United will, in a dream scenario, sell to bring in an estimated £155m. Garnacho, who United reportedly want £70m for, is the big one after his antics at the end of the season.
Their exit would give Amorim the green light to get his hands on his new striker. Right now, it's unclear who that will be but Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen fit the mould that the United boss desires.
Reports from The Athletic have claimed Amorim wants a striker who can play with his back to goal, work as a hook for others to play-off him, have explosive pace, turn half-chances into goals and score a high volume of goals. That criteria does spark concern over the likes of Hugo Ekitike, who is similar to Joshua Zirkzee.
Gyokeres/Osimhen, Mbeumo and Cunha through the door significantly makes United better. More business could follow with a replacement for Christian Eriksen in midfield and Victor Lindelof at the back ideal, while there remains the possibility of a new number one.
Atalanta midfielder Ederson has been a player linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time while Douglas Luiz's future at Juventus presents an interesting opportunity. At the back, United's best back three of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez is strong but the addition of Aymeric Laporte or Goncalo Inacio would only make them better.

There's also an argument to be made that a new left wing-back will need to be brought in. Luke Shaw's injury problems and Diogo Dalot better on the right means an attacking wing-back would conclude an excellent window.
Pervis Estupinan, Theo Hernandez and Piero Hincapie are all left-backs previously linked whereas Nelson Semedo, Vanderson and Denzel Dumfries - all right-backs - could hand Amorim the kind of selection headache he'll be happy to have.
