Newcastle United failed to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi last summer but remain interested.
Arsenal have reportedly entered the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer.
It is no secret that Newcastle United like the defender having failed to sign him 12 months ago. At the time, Guehi was fresh off the back of a successful Euro 2024 campaign with England.
Fast forward to the present and the 24-year-old’s stock has risen further following Palace’s surprise FA Cup win. However, the Eagles are not in as strong a negotiating position as Guehi enters the final year of his contract.
Palace chairman Steve Parish demanded "superstar money” for the centre-back - with Newcastle refusing to budge. Toon chiefs ultimately kept their powder dry but maintain an interest in the defender.
Arsenal now want Marc Guehi
However, various sources suggest Arsenal are keeping tabs on Guehi. That is despite William Saliba and Gabriel being the undisputed first-choice pairing at the Emirates.
Newcastle could offer a clearer path to the starting line-up as Dan Burn and Fabian Schar enter the twilight of their careers. Sven Botman’s continued injury woes also concern the Magpies.
Given his contract situation, Palace may come to the table should a £50million offer materialise. Guehi has stayed tight-lipped on his future but failing to commit to an extension at Selhurst Park hints at a possible move.
Marc Guehi on transfer speculation
Speaking last month, Guehi stayed coy while noting how his focus remains with Palace. He said: "I think the most important thing is just always doing the best that I can for this football club. I come in every day and I try to be the same.
"I try to work hard. And you know, this football club has given me a lot. I'm still under contract at this football club, so my focus is always at this football club. So, you know, for me, the most important is just doing the best I can and seeing where the future holds.”

Oliver Glasner also snubs Marc Guehi talk
Palace boss Oliver Glasner was just as dismissive when grilled about his captain’s future. He said in May: “I don't want to comment on individual players. We could talk about Marc Guehi, we could talk about Dean Henderson, we could talk about Adam Wharton, we could talk about Jean-Philippe Mateta, Daniel Munoz, Ismaila Sarr who played an incredible, outstanding season for us. We won't sell all of them.”
