LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (KPTV) - The trial against a former Portland Trailblazers player began Monday. Ben Mclemore is facing rape and sexual assault charges.
Lake Oswego police say a victim came to them reporting that Mclemore sexually assaulted her in 2021, while he was playing with the Blazers.
The victim was reportedly too impaired to give consent.
Mclemore denies the claims, saying in a statement, “I did not rape this woman. I am not sexually abusive. I have never pursued a sexual relationship when I understood the woman was not interested in me and acting willingly.”
Jury selection in the case is underway and will continue Tuesday morning.
The trial is scheduled to last two weeks.
