Report: Newcastle in hunt for £25m ‘quality’ attacker; exit could be on the cards

Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman impressed heavily in the opening game of the Club World Cup against Auckland City.

Coman scored two goals in the game and made history by becoming the first goalscorer of the Club World Cup.

He has been heavily linked with a move away from Bayern this summer, with Newcastle United reportedly one of the clubs interested in him.

According to a report from Bild, Newcastle are still in the picture to sign Coman, who has won nine Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich.

The Magpies will be looking to bolster their attacking areas after qualifying for the Champions League next season, and Coman has been viewed as a potential option.

Coman is a vastly experienced winger who has played 58 times for the French national team, and he could be a very good signing for Eddie Howe.

There is also interest from Saudi Pro League clubs in Coman, who is valued at around £25m. As of now, Bayern have not received any offers for Coman from interested parties.

He is one of the top players who could be sold in the summer, but there is also a possibility that the Frenchman could take him off the market and become an “irreplaceable” part of Kompany’s starting lineup.

What Vincent Kompany recently said about Coman

When Kompany was asked recently about Coman’s future at Bayern, he said: “That’s not a topic I’m concerned with at the moment.

“When we talk about his quality, it’s important not to forget that he scores important goals. Sometimes you just look at the volume: 20 goals or 15 goals? But he has scored important goals in the history of this club.”

Bayern will be without Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller next season, and they might decide against selling Coman.

However, the situation could change easily if Newcastle or any of the Saudi Pro League clubs come up with a tempting offer for the Frenchman.
