The main summer transfer window has officially reopened with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool set to finalise some big deals.

Arsenal, who are confident of signing Martin Zubimendi despite reported interest from Real Madrid, remain on the hunt to bolster their attacking options amid talks for Benjamin Sesko and persistent links to Viktor Gyokeres as well as Ollie Watkins. Meanwhile, Nico Williams, Johan Bakayoko and Antonio Nusa are said to be on the Gunners' radar, as is Lille defender Alexsandro. Chelsea are in talks over German sensation Nick Woltemade and the Blues continue to target Jamie Gittens and Mike Maignan, having also approached Lyon over Malick Fofana.

Manchester United have turned to Hugo Ekitike and Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Milos Kerkez having scheduled a medical for Floran Wirtz after agreeing a £116m British-record deal. Tottenham are pressing ahead with moves to make signings for Thomas Frank, with Bryan Mbeumo and Yoanne Wissa linked with a reunion with their former Brentford boss, as well as Arnaud Kalimuendo at Rennes. Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has publicly admitted his interest in Tottenham centre-back Cristian Romero.

The Argentine has previously said that he would like to play in La Liga at some point in his career, opening the door to a potential departure from north London.

Simeone poured fuel on the fire after Atleti’s 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup, saying that he would “love” to sign the defender.

Chelsea have approached Lyon over potentially signing Malick Fofana, new reports claim.

The Blues are on the lookout for a new winger this summer having decided not to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent basis and also failed to close a deal with Borussia Dortmund for Jamie Gittens.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Chelsea have now lodged a verbal enquiry with Lyon over Fofana, the 20-year-old who has one senior international cap for Belgium.

He is said to be among a list of wide options currently being considered at Stamford Bridge.
