Newcastle United sources say that Bruno Guimaraes is fully focused on life at St James' Park moving ahead to next season - despite talk of a switch to the Saudi Pro League.
The Brazil international has been linked with Al-Ittihad in recent days but the Newcastle skipper is looking forward to next season's Champions League tilt. His last contract renewal was in October 2023 and the prospect of a new enhanced deal is yet to be discussed by his representatives.
That could come in autumn after the transfer window has closed but likes stars such as Alexander Isak, there is no rush to tie Bruno down at this stage with his current deal running until 2028.
Bruno is eager to see how Newcastle operate in the summer window with the captain delivering a key message after the 1-0 loss against Everton.
The South American, speaking to Sky Sports after losing to Everton, Bruno said: "We are not the level that I want. I think for next season we are going to need more players to be honest with you.
"I think the squad is a little bit short. We have seen last season we play Champions League that we lost some players through injury and had players missing for us.
"We have improved our level. But next year is another competition for us. knowledge We need to work hard after the holiday, but we need to improve."
In what has been a frustrating window so far, head coach Eddie Howe is still waiting for the first summer arrival.
He said last month: "Yes, speed is key for us, and I've reiterated that many times internally. Speed is key because we have to be dynamic, we have to be ready to conclude things very, very quickly because good players don't hang around for long."
