Kevin Durant trade talks stall as Phoenix Suns demand too much from San Antonio Spurs, reportedly asking for either Stephon Castle or the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The Phoenix Suns are inching closer to a potential Kevin Durant trade, but the offers they're getting—especially from KD's preferred destinations—aren't exactly blowing them away.

Durant reportedly has his eyes on three teams: the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Rockets. So far, none of those teams have come forward with what Phoenix considers an "exciting" offer.
According to former Spurs staffer and current analyst Kirk Goldsberry, the Suns have asked San Antonio for either Stephon Castle or the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
That price tag hasn't gone over well.
"Our friends in San Antonio think the price is too high," Goldsberry said on The Zach Lowe Show. "The initial discussions are not going well. ... From my understanding, Phoenix is asking for a little too much. One Eastern Conference executive said, 'The name is better than the game.'"

Durant, now 36, has one year remaining on his contract and is set to earn $54.7 million next season.
Spurs receive:

Suns receive:

No. 14 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft
This package would give the Suns a blend of young players and veteran experience to build around Devin Booker, who is expected to stay in Phoenix.
For the Spurs, adding Durant would fill their pressing need for outside shooting and provide a high-impact partner for Victor Wembanyama.
