Barcelona youngster Jan Virgili is firmly on Hansi Flick’s radar, with the German coach keen to assess the talented winger up close during the club’s upcoming pre-season.
According to SPORT, Virgili’s name has stood out within the youth ranks, and his rapid development has made a strong impression on the new Barça manager.
Before signing for Barça in 2024, the winger had several offers on the table, including one from Espanyol, who promised better financial terms and an immediate place in their reserve squad.
But once Barça came calling, Virgili didn’t hesitate. The badge, the project, and the future at Camp Nou were too good to turn down.
Flick taking note
Since his arrival, Virgili’s growth has been nothing short of outstanding. He has gone from being a promising youth player to one of the most talked-about talents in Barça Atletic.
His speed, creativity, and decision-making have caught the eyes of Flick and his staff, especially assistant Marcus Sorg, who has followed Virgili closely with the Juvenil A team.

Flick is not just aware of Virgili’s progress, he has acted on it. Recently, he held a meeting with a group of young players, including Virgili, where he informed them they would be part of the first team’s pre-season training.
The message was simple: “You earn the tour in pre-season.” But sources say Flick is already convinced, and it would be surprising if Virgili isn’t on the plane for the club’s Asian tour.
Set to report to the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on July 13, Virgili will train with the senior squad in preparation for the new season.
Flick sees pre-season not just as preparation, but as a chance to spot players who could help the team during the campaign.
With interest already coming in from Segunda Division clubs, the coming weeks could be career-defining for the 18-year-old winger.
