Report: Napoli now want to sign Jack Grealish after Kevin De Bruyne but there's a problem

Jack Grealish has seemingly been on Napoli’s radar for a while now.

Napoli have been watching Grealish closely alongside several other clubs, including fellow Serie A giants AC Milan.

Antonio Conte’s side have already signed Kevin De Bruyne, who Napoli fans gave a hero’s welcome.

Grealish idolises De Bruyne and at least in theory, one would imagine that he would love to be reunited with the midfield maestro in Naples.

Napoli are not prepared to pay Jack Grealish’s wages

Jack Grealish might be hoping to finalise his next destination sooner rather than later in order to get to know his new teammates as well as the tactical system in place as quickly as possible.

Grealish has decided to leave Manchester City and the decision-makers at the Etihad Stadium have decided to part ways with him as well.

However, The Telegraph have reported that the Italian side will not match the England international’s £300,000-a-week wages as they decide whether to make an offer to sign him.

Napoli were interested in snapping Grealish up in January and Antonio Conte rates him highly.

But Grealish’s £300k-a-week wages have emerged as a stumbling block for the Serie A winners, as Manchester City might have to fund 50 per cent of his salary for a move to be deemed realistic.

City are optimistic that there will be a long list of suitors for the 29-year-old but other sources close to the situation are of the opinion that a loan move seems like the most likely outcome for the three-time Premier League winner.

Tottenham’s Jack Grealish stance

The report mentions that Grealish is desperate to play regular football next season, as how many minutes he plays could determine his spot in England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Thomas Tuchel feels Grealish must play regularly, even though he admires him as a player and a character.

England’s other left-wing options such as Anthony Gordon and Eberechi Eze are regular starters at their respective clubs as compared to the former Aston Villa technician.

The report has now revealed another issue for Grealish is that Tottenham are not expected to enter the race to sign him.

Grealish’s wages were an issue for Spurs, as they are for Napoli and for him to seek a permanent move this summer, taking a pay cut seems virtually mandatory for him.
