According to a recent report in the _Sun_, Liverpool are looking to make an offer for Newcastle United player Anthony Gordon who signed a [contract extension](https://www.claretandhugh.info/new-antonio-contract-decision-boost/) with the Geordies in October 2024 tying him down to the club until 2030.
The Reds are reportedly prepared pay up to £100m to secure the England international, which would represent a significant profit for Newcastle who signed the left winger for £45m in January 2023.
If Gordon departs, Harvey Barnes would then likely be an automatic option on the left. However, speculation has also intensified around Mohammed Kudus, who is open to joining a club competing in the Champions League.
Newcastle manage Eddie Howie is known to be a strong admirer of Kudus who can operate on both flanks. With the Toon likely to miss out on signing Bryan Mbeumo, and potentially cash rich from a Gordon sale, an offer of £70m could tempt the Hammers into doing business.
_Ghanasoccernet_ reported only a few months ago that Kudus was already on Newcastle’s radar, suggesting that Newcastle would be willing to meet West Ham’s demands.
Despite some reports suggesting the 24 year old fan favourite could leave on the cheap this has been dismissed by the club. Kudus remains under contract at the London club until June 2028 with an option for an additional one year.
If a transfer fails to materialise between now and the window close, he will remain an integral part of Graham Potters plans for the new season.
