**_Sky Sport Italia_ reporter Davide Abrescia claims Liverpool are a contender in the race to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.**
The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal and Juventus have all been credited with an interest in the Nigerian international, but Abrescia says the Reds are also one of his potential destinations:
“There are several teams that are interested, but the strikers’ merry-go-round has yet to start.”
“There is also Liverpool, who are looking for a new centre-forward, and Osimhen is a name that they like a lot.”
Napoli are staying firm on their asking price
---------------------------------------------
It is believed that the Serie A champions are still requesting that clubs match Osimhen’s €75m (£64m) release clause despite the fact that the forward is out of contract at the end of next season.
Up until now, Al-Hilal have been the only team prepared to meet Napoli’s demands but the Nigerian has so far rebuffed the advances of the Saudi club.
[**Osimhen**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-transfer-news-victor-osimhen-4/) is said to be keen on staying in Europe, despite only having a concrete offer from the Middle East.
Liverpool could offer a player in exchange for Osimhen
------------------------------------------------------
Reports from other sources in the Italian media suggest that Napoli are interested in recruiting Darwin Nunez. If Arne Slot’s side are genuinely interested in Osimhen, there is potential for a swap deal.
The Reds are thought to value Nunez at around €60m (£51m), which means that there would be some room to negotiate over an exchange.
Of course, at the moment, the interest in Osimhen doesn’t appear to be particularly strong. Abrescia’s remarks do, however, indicate that this transfer story is one to keep a close eye on.
