Mike Brown, most recently the head coach of the Sacramento Kings, is expected to interview after Jenkins.
So far, the Knicks have reportedly been denied permission to speak with several of their top targets, all of whom are currently under contract with other NBA teams.
That list includes Billy Donovan (Bulls), Ime Udoka (Rockets), Chris Finch (Timberwolves), Quin Snyder (Hawks), and Jason Kidd (Mavericks).
Jenkins, who was recently let go by the Memphis Grizzlies just before the end of the regular season, is the franchise's all-time winningest coach. He had been with the team since 2019.
The 40-year-old began his coaching career with the San Antonio Spurs' D-League affiliate, the Austin Toros, where he led the team to a championship in 2012.
He later served as an assistant coach with the Atlanta Hawks from 2013 to 2018 and spent the 2018–19 season on the Milwaukee Bucks' coaching staff.
The Knicks are coming off their most successful season in decades.
They finished third in the Eastern Conference with a 51–31 record and reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years, before falling to the Indiana Pacers in six games.
Despite the deep playoff run, the team parted ways with head coach Tom Thibodeau.
