Travis Kelce Makes Major Offseason Change Ahead of Chiefs Minicamp

The Kansas City Chiefs have a mandatory minicamp running from June 17 to June 19. That is the final series of practices before training camp starts next month.

Tight end Travis Kelce was considering stepping away after the 2024 season, but he decided to return for his 13th season and another chance to win an additional Super Bowl.

Looking for a bounce-back season, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler revealed on SportsCenter that Kelce is 25 pounds lighter.

"He’s told people close to him that he’s lost about 25 pounds this offseason. Played a little bit heavier in 2024, sort of a thing. He vowed to change it, and he has," Fowler said.

Travis Kelce Makes Big Change for 2025

Kelce was listed at 250 pounds last season and didn't like how that weight affected his play. There were times in the 2024 season when Kelce looked a step slower. Granted, he's 35 years old and isn't in his prime anymore, but being lighter will help his movement and put less stress on his joints.

Last season, Kelce had 823 receiving yards and three touchdowns, both his lowest marks since his rookie season in 2013.

The Cincinnati product is a safety value for quarterback Patrick Mahomes and is looking to give it another go at the best of his ability.

The Chiefs' passing attack should be better this year with Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown back in action. If they can stay healthy, along with Xavier Worthy entering his second season, Kansas City is expecting more production in the passing attack.

Fowler added that this could be Kelce’s “last dance.” With that being a real possibility, he made sure to return in great shape.

That's the kind of approach you expect from a future Hall-of-Famer like Kelce. Fans will get a glimpse of Kelce when minicamp starts on Tuesday.
