Newcastle United have been told they must increase their offer by £15 million if they want to sign Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest this summer.
According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Forest have informed Newcastle it will now take “well over £50million” to complete a deal for the Sweden international.
Last summer, Newcastle saw a £35 million bid rejected, and Forest are not under pressure to sell with Elanga under contract until 2028.
“Elanga is somebody who is high up on their list,” O’Rourke wrote. “He’ll cost a decent fee if they are to prise him out of Nottingham Forest, that could be an issue for Newcastle because Forest are under no real pressure to sell.
“He’s definitely on the list of Newcastle targets, so he’s one to keep an eye on.”
Football Insider previously revealed on 11 June that Newcastle were stepping up their pursuit of Elanga after falling short in their bid for Bryan Mbeumo.
Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown told the outlet Elanga “wants to join Newcastle” and talks are expected to follow.
Elanga featured in every Premier League game for Forest in 2024–25, contributing six goals and 11 assists. He remains a top target for Eddie Howe, who is seeking a right winger as Newcastle prepare for another Champions League campaign.
Brown also noted that Forest are already working behind the scenes to identify replacements, signalling they are open to a deal if their valuation is met.
