Everton could complete a shock transfer for Manchester City defender Kyle Walker at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The England international’s time at the Etihad Stadium seems to be coming to an end after spending the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan.

David Moyes is now looking at Walker to strengthen the Toffees ahead of the upcoming campaign as they look to make further progress in the Premier League.

Jake O’Brien was the first-choice right-back at Goodison Park under the Scottish manager, and it seems like he may have competition for his place in the team soon.

Everton yet to make formal contact with Man City for Walker transfer

There has been no formal contact between the Toffees and Man City regarding Walker, Alex Crook says.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The talkSPORT journalist revealed that the 35-year-old’s move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium isn’t as close as is being reported, but he’s admired at the Merseyside outfit.

Moyes is also eyeing Jack Grealish, but Crook feels the forward and English right-back’s wages could be an issue for the Blues.

Speaking on talkSPORT (17 June), the journalist said: “I don’t think this is quite as close as maybe some people are reporting. There has not been any formal contact yet between Everton and Man City.

“But certainly we can say that Walker is a player Moyes admires. They’ve got an opportunity on the right-hand side of defence because Ashley Young left on a free transfer. But I think wages will be an issue, not just with Walker but Grealish as well.”

Walker a short-term option for Moyes this transfer window

The Friedkin Group (TFG) should back Moyes this summer, as he has shown himself capable of bringing success to the Toffees.

Under Sean Dyche, the Blues were in danger of being relegated, but the Scottish manager changed that immediately after arriving, finishing 13th in the Premier League.

Seamus Coleman’s contract at Goodison Park expires at the end of June, and it remains to be seen whether a new deal can be agreed.

Everton could also lose Nathan Patterson in the coming months, as he has struggled for game time in recent months.

Walker looks like a short-term solution for the Toffees’ needs at right-back, but one that has the potential to flourish.

While the 35-year-old isn’t in his prime, the Man City star still has enough quality to succeed at the Blues if he’s signed.

The English defender’s recent performances for Milan and the Three Lions may not be encouraging to the Merseyside outfit’s supporters, and it will be interesting to see how his prospective addition is perceived.
