Kyle Walker is being linked with a move to Everton during this transfer window but the Manchester City right-back has already snubbed a switch to the Toffees to sign for David Moyes once in his career.

Walker's time at the Etihad is coming to an end and the 35-year-old has been left out of Pep Guardiola's squad for the Club World Cup to find a move away.

The England right-back spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan but struggled to recapture his form in Serie A. Despite that, Everton are emerging as potential suitors for Walker.

But the former Tottenham man has already revealed how he rejected a move to Goodison Park to sign for Moyes back in 2009, when Walker and Kyle Naughton left Sheffield United to join Spurs in a joint £9million deal.

At the time Naughton, who is 18 months older than Walker, was at a more advanced level and clubs were eyeing him up as well as Walker. With Everton interested, Naughton was given an invite to Moyes' house to discuss a potential transfer, an offer that never came the way of his Blades' teammate.

Speaking last October on the You'll Never Beat Kyle Walker podcast, Walker told the story and said that snub was one of the reasons he moved to Tottenham instead, with the impression given that they were keener on him.

“I was close to signing for Everton before I signed for Tottenham. Just to let you know," he said.

“Naughts went to his house. Naughts went to Moyes’ house and he never invited me.

“So, I went down to Devon (where Spurs were holding a pre-season training camp), to Tottenham and I was like okay they like me more, so I signed for Tottenham.”

Walker was initially loaned back to Sheffield United but went on to establish himself in the Spurs side, making 229 appearances before a £50million move to City in 2017.
