Pervis Estupinan wants to join Man United in the summer transfer window after asking to leave Brighton, according to their former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the 27-year-old’s agent has made clubs aware of his availability.

However, there are doubts about United’s interest after Patrick Dorgu’s arrival, while there is hope Luke Shaw can retain his fitness and Harry Amass can continue to develop.

Brighton are facing a potential clear-out this summer, as Estupinan has joined Joao Pedro and Matt O’Riley in voicing his frustrations at the Amex.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Pedro is interested in leaving Brighton to take the step up to a bigger club amid interest from Chelsea and Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider that Fabian Hurzeler will allow O’Riley to leave if an acceptable offer arrives as he does not want unhappy players in his squad.

Pervis Estupinan wants to join Man United after agent talks

Estupinan has been a long-term target for United and there are still admirers of his behind the scenes, but left-back is not currently one of Ruben Amorim‘s priorities.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Tottenham, West Ham and Aston Villa, explained United’s interest in the Brighton man has faded as they aim to strengthen other positions.

“*Estupinan is looking to move away from Brighton,*” he told Football Insider.

“It’s a strange situation at Brighton, they’re praised a lot for their recruitment, but there are players queuing up to want to leave.

“We’ve spoken about Joao Pedro and O’Riley before, now it’s Estupinan.

“His agent has been making his availability known to a number of clubs, and from what I hear he wants to join Man United.

“I think he’s a decent player, but I don’t think it’s going to be a priority for them.

“Luke Shaw has got back to full fitness and they’re hopeful he can stay fit, they bought Dorgu in January, and they’ve got Harry Amass coming through as well.

“Their priorities are at centre-forward and in midfield, so I don’t expect them to move for Estupinan.

“He’s a player they wanted previously, and I’m sure he’s still got admirers, but unfortunately for him they look to have moved on.”

Emiliano Martinez update emerges after Andre Onana confession

While United are considered unlikely to make a move for a new left-back this summer, they could be forced to make a move for a new goalkeeper.

Brown told Football Insider on 16 June that United will accelerate their interest in Emiliano Martinez after Andre Onana hinted he could leave Old Trafford.

Onana confessed [via the Mail]: “Will I leave? I don’t know. We’ll see,” amid ongoing speculation about his future at United.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider in April that Man United will accept offers for Onana and have priced him at around £50million amid interest from Saudi clubs.
