Ruben Amorim, Manager of Manchester United, looks on, as Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United receives medical treatment during the UEFA Europa League 2024/25 Quarter Final Second Leg match between Manchester United and Olympique Lyonnais at Old Trafford on April 17, 2025
Ruben Amorim has made it clear that Alejandro Garnacho is surplus to requirements
Alejandro Garnacho's impending Manchester United exit appears to have been confirmed by a photographer.
The 20-year-old has been told he can leave Old Trafford for good this summer, although that's dependent on United receiving a satisfactory offer. Napoli's suggestion of a £40million move was swiftly knocked back in the January transfer window.
A fee closer to the region of £60-70m should be enough to get the ball rolling on a deal, although who would be willing to spend that much money remains to be seen. Regardless, it seems Garnacho's photographer Konrad Borzyskowski can't see a world where he's still a United player next season.
He posted a series of photos of the Argentinian winger from the 2024/25 season on his Instagram on Monday with the caption: "One last time in @manchesterunited red… @garnacho7 under the microscope."
Whether Borzyskowski has any inside information is unknown, although he's built relationships with countless players in the Premier League and across Europe that he snaps. It's been claimed Garnacho favours staying in England.
Chelsea have been the most heavily linked of United's domestic rivals. Eagle-eyed fans spotted him liking an Insta post from one of their new signings, Liam Delap, after their Club World Cup victory against LAFC on Monday.
While Enzo Maresca has no shortage of attacking options, the left side of his frontline is the weakest, particularly after the Blues opted to spend £5m to break their obligation to buy Jadon Sancho for between £20m and £25m.
Arsenal and Aston Villa have also been named in connection with Garnacho. The Gunners look set to miss out on Nico Williams, who reportedly favours a move to Barcelona.
Villa, meanwhile, will likely need to sell before they can buy due to concerns about breaching PSR rules. Atletico Madrid have naturally been linked with Garnacho as his former club.

Garnacho is set to wave goodbye to United if the right bid is received
And Erik ten Hag's return to management at Bayer Leverkusen has similarly sprung reports of a potential reunion. Any fee for Garnacho will be counted as pure profit for United as he's classed as a homegrown player, boosting the war chest on offer for Ruben Amorim.
Matheus Cunha's £62.5m arrival has already taken a chunk out of it, while Bryan Mbeumo - who's believed to favour a move to United over following Thomas Frank to Tottenham - will cost a similar amount, if not more. That's without taking into account the pursuit of a striker.
