Manchester United’s search for a new striker has taken a fresh twist following recent setbacks in the transfer market.
The Red Devils have been active in identifying a reliable centre-forward to support or potentially replace Rasmus Hojlund, especially with the club aiming to boost attacking depth under Ruben Amorim.
Liam Delap, once viewed as a key target, snubbed United’s interest to complete a surprise move to Chelsea, while another option, Viktor Gyokeres, has made it clear he prefers a switch to Arsenal should he leave Sporting CP.

These developments have forced United’s recruitment team to widen their scope, with pre-season fast approaching and Amorim eager to finalise his forward options before the squad jets off for tour.
Now, attention has shifted to Germany.
Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike, who has emerged as a serious option after scoring 15 goals and registering eight assists in 33 appearances last season.
The 22-year-old France U21 international joined Frankfurt permanently from PSG for £14 million following a disappointing loan spell at the French giants, and has since rejuvenated his career in the Bundesliga.
Frankfurt, however, are in a strong financial position following Omar Marmoush’s £63 million January switch to Manchester City, and are under no immediate pressure to sell Ekitike.

Despite this, United could test the waters, with the Bundesliga club reportedly valuing the striker at around £60 million, as per The Times.
Ekitike’s technical quality, physicality, and ability to operate as a lone striker or in a fluid front three make him an appealing profile for Amorim’s high-pressing style.
With two years remaining on his current deal, Frankfurt are expected to demand a premium for one of their standout performers, especially in the current inflated market.
United’s interest may intensify in the coming weeks as other striker options drop off the radar — and Hugo Ekitike could soon find himself at the centre of another high-stakes Premier League tug-of-war.
