When does the 2025/26 Premier League campaign kick off?
After the FA Community Shield between Liverpool – who are close to signing Florian Wirtz – and Crystal Palace on Sunday 10th August has been played, the 2025/26 Premier League will begin on Saturday 16th August.
By starting the season on 16th August, the Premier League have ensured players obtain the maximum rest time – 83 days – from the end of the 2024/25 season.
When does the 2025/26 Premier League season end?
The final day of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign falls on Sunday 24th May, with all ten fixtures set to commence at the same time, as usual.
Finishing on 24th May ensures the Premier League season does not overrun into the 2026 FIFA World Cup call-up period.
Premier League maintain U-turn on Christmas Eve game
The Premier League reintroduced the Christmas Eve fixture back in December 2023 for the first time in 28 years, when Leeds defeated Manchester United in December 1995.
It saw Chelsea, who want Mike Maignan and Jamie Gittens, lose 2-1 at Wolves, and the Premier League then opted not to schedule a Christmas Eve fixture for the 2024/25 campaign following backlash.
That U-turn has been maintained, with no Christmas Eve fixture set to occur next season either.
