Barca confirm when Martin will return after undergoing surgery

Barcelona have confirmed that Gerard Martin has undergo successful surgery on a hand injury that forced him to pull out of Spain Under-21 duty.

Martin was injured in the team’s first game of their Euro Championship bid and was sent back to Barcelona for treatment.

He’s now gone under the knife but is expected back in time for the start of pre-season with Hansi Flick’s side.

Here’s the club’s official statement:

“The first team player Gerard Martin has undergone successful surgery for the dislocation of the base of the fifth metacarpal of his right hand.

“He was treated by Dr. Mir under the supervision of the Club’s Medical Services. The full-back is expected to be available for the start of pre-season.”

Barcelona are due back on July 13 for medical checks and the start of training and will then jet out to Asia for their pre-season tour.
