Jarell Quansah and Harvey Elliott set to learn fate amid Liverpool transfer speculation

Liverpool trio Jarell Quansah, Tyler Morton, and Harvey Elliott will learn their European Championships Under-21 fate on Wednesday, when England takes on Germany.

The Reds are part of Lee Carsley's 23-man squad in Slovakia and have all played in England’s opening two group-stage games. The Three Lions beat Czechia in the opening game, with Elliott netting the first goal in a 3-1 win.

That was followed by a frustrating 0-0 against Slovenia, in which Elliott was voted player of the match. It leaves England on four points heading into the group decider against Germany, a side which has won both matches so far and scored seven goals.

To progress to the knockout stages, England must avoid defeat or hope Slovenia does not beat Czechia in the other game.

The tournament comes amid speculation surrounding the futures of all three Liverpool youngsters. Morton is expected to move on this summer after failing to play a single minute in the Premier League this season.

As for Quansah, he has been heavily linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen. Liverpool’s stance is that it does not want to sell the academy product, but it may struggle to turn down a significant offer for a player who has fallen down the pecking order under Slot.

Asked about his career trajectory ahead of the Slovenia game, Quansah said: "It’s definitely developing. I’m not getting too high or too low with anything."

“I think I can take massive learnings from the three seasons I’ve had in professional football. From Bristol Rovers [on loan in 2023] until now, to put perspective and look back, I’m in a very good position to take the next step.

"It comes with working hard and staying focused on what I can control. As for the future, it’ll put me in the best stead if I just keep my head down and keep working."

Elliott has been linked with moves to several Premier League clubs and his stance over a possible exit has certainly softened.

In January, amid more speculation, Elliott confirmed he had no plans to leave his boyhood club, but has since discussed the possibility of a summer exit on several occasions.
