Newcastle United youngster Sean Neave has signed a new deal at the club, keeping him on Tyneside until 2028.
After breaking into the first-team picture midway through the season, the 18-year-old has done enough to impress Eddie Howe and earn himself a new deal at the club.
Sean Neave started training with Newcastle United’s first team in December ahead of their Premier League game against Liverpool, and finally broke into the matchday squad for an FA Cup clash away at Birmingham City.
While Neave did not make his professional debut for Newcastle, he was allowed to train with the likes of Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak, the players whom he will be fighting for a place in the starting XI next season.
Neave seriously impressed for Newcastle’s academy last season, jumping from the Under-18s straight to the first team where he will get his chance to impress during pre-season. Now, Newcastle must turn their attention to another young star whose future at the club is uncertain.

Garang Kuol’s Newcastle United future remains unknown after Sean Neave’s new contract
Having signed in 2023, Garang Kuol has not set the world alight on Tyneside. Two disastrous loan spells at Hearts and FC Volendam severely hampered his progress, and things did not get much better when he picked up an injury at the start of the 2024/25 campaign.
However, Kuol was sensational for Newcastle in the second half of the season, scoring five goals and bagging four assists in 10 games.
Kuol joined Newcastle off the back of being named in Australia’s World Cup squad, and even played against Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the group stages, but the 20-year-old’s dip in form has seen him taken out of his national team.

Earlier in 2025, Australia’s manager suggested Kuol should leave Newcastle to have a better chance of playing for his country in the future. His exit looked more likely after Kuol stated he sees his future away from Newcastle.
The youngster is entering the final year of his contract this summer, so Howe and Newcastle must decide his future soon.

Garang Kuol deserves a chance to impress in Newcastle United’s first team
Having found his best form last season, Kuol is showing signs of the player many fans thought he could become when he signed.
Newcastle fans urged Howe to give Kuol a chance, but given the 20-year-old’s stance, it may be too late to change his mind. Despite that, Howe has the perfect opportunity to give Kuol a chance in their upcoming pre-season games in July.
