Andy Robertson to Atletico Madrid: Fabrizio gives new update

Andy Robertson’s name is back in the transfer headlines — and this time, it’s not just paper talk. Atletico Madrid have him high on their summer wish list. But hold your horses, Robertson isn’t sprinting out of Anfield just yet.

The Liverpool left-back, now 31, has reportedly caught the eye of Diego Simeone’s side, who are hoping to land him on a budget-friendly deal. However, as Fabrizio Romano shared on Tuesday, nothing is set in stone.

“At this stage of the summer window, Andy Robertson has made no decisions on his future yet,” Romano wrote.

“He will take a break and discuss everything with Liverpool, having great relations with the club and full respect. No talks on the fee will happen until player decides on options.”

This update should come as no surprise. Robertson is known for giving his all, not rushing major decisions, and showing loyalty to Liverpool — where he’s worn the red shirt for eight years.

Could Andy Robertson leave Liverpool this summer?

The timing is interesting. Liverpool are closing in on Milos Kerkez, the 21-year-old left-back from Bournemouth. If that move goes through, the Reds may be willing to let one senior full-back go.

Earlier, Kostas Tsimikas seemed the more likely name, but now, Robertson’s future is the hot topic now.

Atletico reportedly want the Scotland captain for as little as £4.2 million — a cheeky offer, considering his years of service. If that feels familiar, it’s because it is. Liverpool have dealt with similar lowball bids before, and they don’t usually bite.

Still, if Robertson chooses to move, expect it to be on his own terms — no drama, no last-minute U-turns, just a clean break from the club he’s called home since 2017.
