Liverpool will find a summer deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike difficult to do, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds have shortlisted the Frankfurt star, who enjoyed a stunning first full season with the Bundesliga club in the 2024-25 campaign, as they search for striking reinforcements.

Liverpool are keen for Ekitike to replace Darwin Nunez at Anfield as clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia line up moves for the Reds flop.

However, Frankfurt are ready to stand firm on their £85million valuation of the France Under-21 international – a price tag the Merseysiders are currently unable to meet.

Liverpool will not pay £85m for Ekitike

Arne Slot‘s side are already committed to a club-record move for Bayer Leverkusen superstar Florian Wirtz.

Frankfurt are in a strong position with Ekitike under contract until June 2029 and the club able to offer Champions League football next term.

Chelsea are also long-term admirers but have already completed a deal for Liam Delap in the off-season.

Ekitike hit 22 goals and notched 12 assists in 48 games across all competitions for Frankfurt in the 2024-25 campaign.

He originally joined Frankfurt on loan from PSG in January 2024 before making the move permanent for around £14million later that year.

‘Liverpool plan to accept £10m winger offer’

Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly planning to accept offers for Federico Chiesa this summer after a disappointing first season.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown claimed the Reds would be prepared to accept offers equal to or higher than the £10million fee paid for Chiesa last summer.
