EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea Urged To Complete£42m Transfer For Attacker Who“Will Shine”In The Premier League

Former Chelsea and Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has urged the Blues to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.

Enzo Maresca’s side are currently away on duty at the Club World Cup, they won their opening match 2-0 against LAFC, and are now looking to continue their form heading into their next match against Brazilian side Flamengo.

However, they had a slight setback before the tournament started, as they failed to secure the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens. The Blues sent a bid of £30m to Dortmund, but the German club are demanding a transfer fee of £42m.

It is understood that the English winger is a priority target for Chelsea, and that he wants to move to Stamford Bridge. But if the two clubs can’t agree on a fee, then the Blues will have to look at other targets instead.

Former Blues winger Shaun Wright-Phillips however, has urged Chelsea to sign Gittens, as he believes that he will be a success in the Premier League under Maresca. He told ChelseaNews exclusively via Prime Casino: “He’s got ability and pace, and he’s set up to be a success.

“I think the thing that would establish him ahead of the competition is if he can be consistent. All their wingers have had their moments, but never week in, week out. I think if he shows he can be on it regularly, he’ll be hard to drop.

“It will be a lot of pressure compared to maybe what he’s used to in the Bundesliga, but the main thing is he enjoys it. I think Enzo Maresca is an incredible manager to work with, and if he works hard – as he always seems to – then his talent will shine at Chelsea.”

Who could Chelsea sign instead of Gittens?

If they fail to sign the 20-year-old, it would be a huge disappointment, because he impressed for Dortmund last season. Gittens made 48 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists last term.

However, if they have to look at alternatives, then Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho could be a potential target. He fits the mould of the sort of player Chelsea want at the moment; young and full of talent.

Garnacho is due to leave Old Trafford this summer despite a strong season in parts last year under Ten Hag and Amorim. The winger made 58 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists.
