Primary students champion inclusion at Arsenal

Students from Sacred Heart Primary School recently took part in an inspiring inclusion workshop at the Arsenal Hub, themed around the upcoming UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 tournament.

The event was part of the Premier League Primary Stars initiative, where the students created vibrant inclusion posters inspired by the Women’s Euros. They also had the chance to learn about the Arsenal Women players who will be competing in this summer’s tournament.

The workshop was led by Year 9 students from Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School (EGA), who developed and delivered a dynamic presentation as part of their social action project with Premier League Inspires. Their session highlighted England’s historic victory in the 2022 tournament and celebrated the achievements of Arsenal Women.

After the workshop, the primary students enjoyed a tour of the Emirates Stadium and got to play football on the pitch at the Arsenal Hub.

Mrs Price, a teacher at Sacred Heart, praised the collaboration:

“The timing of everything has worked really well, and the students from EGA have been amazing. They truly connected with our pupils and ensured everyone was included. They noticed things I might have missed and were incredibly positive in their interactions, which made the whole day so much better.

“We work closely with Arsenal and their coaches come into our school regularly. They've even introduced a girls’ football session on Tuesdays. After England’s win at the Euros in 2022, we've been committed to promoting girls’ football. I didn’t grow up with much exposure to football, especially not for girls, so having Arsenal’s support has been invaluable. It’s made the sport feel more inclusive and accessible for everyone.”

Adefolami, a Year 9 student from EGA, reflected on the experience:

“My favourite part of the day was presenting our inclusion session. The kids were really engaged and creative with their posters, showing positive messages about growing as a community. Even during the football matches, they showed great sportsmanship by shaking hands and supporting one another. It's so important to learn those values at a young age.”

Miss Daly, a teacher from EGA, shared her pride in the students’ development:

“This was the first time our school has worked with Arsenal in this way, and it’s been a huge opportunity for our students. Over the past two or three months, they’ve grown so much in preparation for today.

“Many of them had never presented or coached before, and while some were hesitant at first, it’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow. They’ve really come out of their shells and it’s been a hugely worthwhile project.”
