‘Significant stumbling block’is stopping Ruben Amorim from offloading Man Utd player amid interest from one elite club

A Manchester United player in Ruben Amorim’s first-team squad is ‘open’ to a move away from Old Trafford, despite the Red Devils being hit with a major roadblock.

Ruben Amorim is in the process of revamping the Manchester United first-team squad that he inherited from former Ajax and Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag.

The 40-year-old United manager has already seen one major arrival this summer, with United signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves for a £62.5m transfer fee.

Amorim is expected to have further reinforcements and United have been linked with Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo and Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

However, the Red Devils will also need to ensure that players who are surplus to requirements at Old Trafford are offloaded in the summer transfer window.

United’s spending power has been limited due to the Premier League’s existing Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) that are in place and their financial woes.

Jadon Sancho is open to a move away from Man Utd after his Chelsea transfer collapsed – but with a major obstacle ahead

Jadon Sancho’s permanent move to Chelsea this summer collapsed after the Blues paid a £5m penalty fee to scupper the move to sign the Manchester United winger.

The 25-year-old United loanee spent the entirety of the 2024-25 Premier League campaign out on loan at Stamford Bridge after he left Old Trafford last summer.

Chelsea agreed to sign Sancho for a fee between £20m to £25m this summer as part of the loan deal, but it emerged that the Blues could veto the permanent move.

According to GiveMeSport, it has now emerged that the Chelsea player ‘will not lower his salary expectations’ to complete a move away from Old Trafford.

However, the publication added that Sancho would be ‘open to returning’ to Borussia Dortmund this summer, having played for the club twice across two separate spells.

Sancho’s move to Borussia Dortmund for a third spell has also been met with a ‘significant stumbling block’ over his reported position on not taking a wage cut.

Man Utd have one option to offload Chelsea player Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window

Jadon Sancho’s representatives and Chelsea were unable to reach an agreement over his contract after the United player would have had to take a pay cut.

The former Borussia Dortmund ace’s contract with the Blues will expire on 30th June and Sancho will return to Old Trafford after his season-long loan spell.

GiveMeSport has claimed that Dortmund are ‘exploring a move’ for Sancho and the German club are ‘waiting’ to see if there is a solution for his ‘salary situation.’

The outlet reports that the Red Devils could be ‘forced to subsidise’ part of Sancho’s hefty United wages if they want to push ahead with the transfer to Dortmund.

However, it is believed that United are ‘trying to move away’ from taking the aforementioned approach and the club face an ‘uphill battle’ in selling Sancho.
