Everton are aiming to strengthen several areas of their squad this summer, and have now identified veteran Kyle Walker as a key target.
Walker spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, and will leave Manchester City permanently this summer.
Everton want to sign a right-back this summer, and have now targeted Walker as one of several potential signings they could make.
David Moyes is keen on signing the England international, but if he does join, there will be plenty of scepticism over whether he is the right fit for Everton going forward.

With Ashley Young leaving after two years of providing cover at right-back, Everton now find themselves short in the position again.

Everton are reportedly in talks to sign Walker, who will be allowed to leave Man City for a potentially low fee this summer.

Formal contact has been made, and Moyes is very keen on signing the 35-year-old, but if he joins, Everton will come no closer to finding a solution to a long-term problem.

Everton have needed Coleman replacement for three years
Everton have neglected the right-back position for too long, and with Coleman clearly coming to the end of his career, a replacement is needed.
It was obvious that Coleman needed a long-term replacement for three years, but little was done about this. Patterson was targeted as a younger option, while Young joined for his versatility and experience.
Signing Walker would mean that while Moyes has his Young replacement, Everton will still need to sign a younger right-back, and next summer they will find themselves looking for another option.
Targeting a younger player now, such as Kyle Walker-Peters, could go some way to solving this issue of Coleman’s replacement, and would certainly be better in the long term than poaching another ageing outcast beyond his best years.
Walker was loaned out after some disastrous performances for City, and it is clear that he is no longer performing at the level which made him a Premier League great.
