West Ham are not expected to sign Callum Wilson or Dominic Calvert-Lewin on free transfers this summer.
Wilson will soon be a free agent with his contract at Newcastle expiring on June 30th, while Calvert-Lewin is in the same situation at Everton. However, writing on The West Ham Way Patreon (quotes via their website), Ex said that the two former England forwards are not targets for the Hammers due to their poor injury records:
“I have been advised that we are in fact not keen on signing him [Calvert-Lewin] or [Callum] Wilson too. Although the club recognise they are both talented and proven players, they are injury-prone and it’s something we want to avoid.”

“Now of course, things can change if we became desperate at the last minute, but as of now, there is no interest in these players. The club are working on deals and have stressed that fans should remain patient and judge business by the end of the window, with many becoming frustrated at what appears to be a slow start to proceedings.”
Wilson’s recent injury history is worse than Calvert-Lewin’s
It should be pointed out that Calvert-Lewin has only had one significant injury over the last two seasons – a hamstring problem that kept him out for two months between February and April earlier this year. The main issue with the 28-year-old is his scoring record. He has found the back of the net just 13 times over the past three seasons.
Wilson, on the other hand, has struggled to get on the pitch. He has suffered with abdominal, back, calf and hamstring problems in recent years.
Are West Ham pursuing any other strikers?
The Irons were linked with Stade de Reims forward Adama Bojang at the weekend, but he is very much a player for the future. Former Aston Villa player Jhon Duran has also been mentioned as an option but there is believed to be an issue with his agent.
Alternatives, including Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade, Saint-Etienne’s Lucas Stassin and Hamburg’s Davie Selke have been considered as well.
