Manchester United have apparently made a decision on Tom Heaton's future at the club.
United are in the middle of planning for the 2025/26 season, with the summer transfer window dominating the headlines.
One new signing has already been confirmed by United, with Matheus Cunha arriving in a £62.5 million deal from Wolves.
It's not just new arrivals that United will be focused on this summer, but also players already at the club.
Whether that be agreeing new contracts or exploring deals for players to leave, United are already having a busy summer.
Heaton is one player who has been rumoured to be heading for the exit door this summer. The goalkeeper's contract is set to expire at the end of the month, meaning he is just weeks away from becoming a free agent.
United confirmed when they announced their retained list that they were in talks with Heaton over a potential extension.
Now a fresh update has emerged about the 39-year-old's future as the end of June fast approaches.
Fabrizio Romano has reported on X, formerly known as Twitter, that United have agreed a deal for Heaton to extend his contract at Old Trafford.
The report claims that the agreement will see United extend Heaton's deal by 12 months until the summer of 2026, meaning he would no longer be leaving the club for free on June 30.
United signed Heaton in the summer of 2021 and the shot-stopper has become a valuable member of the dressing room despite making only three appearances for the club over the last four years.
The last time Heaton played for United's first team was in February 2023 in a Carabao Cup semi-final victory over Nottingham Forest.
