West Ham Weigh Up £13M Bid For Arsenal Player Who Is Up For Sale This Summer

West Ham are considering a move for Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Ukrainian international is closing in on the final year of his contract at the Emirates and the Gunners are open to selling him.

PianetaMilan claim that the Hammers, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax and AC Milan are all vying for Zinchenko’s signature.

However, it remains to be seen which teams are prepared to match the 28-year-old’s €15m (£13m) asking price.

Zinchenko’s fitness record is a concern

The fullback has suffered a series of muscular injuries over the course of the last two seasons that have limited him to just 25 league starts in total.

For that reason, Milan are said to be reluctant to match Arsenal’s valuation, especially as Zinchenko will be available on a free transfer next year.

It should be noted that West Ham do have a poor record when it comes to recruiting players with injury problems, so the Irons will also be wary about investing significant funds in someone who has struggled to stay fit

West Ham are in the market for a new left-back

Aaron Cresswell has ended his association with the club after over a decade of service, and reliable reports have also confirmed that head coach Graham Potter has agreed to sanction the sale of Emerson Palmieri.

It could leave the club with one relatively inexperienced left-back in Ollie Scarles. Therefore, the links to Zinchenko do make sense.

His availability for a relatively low price means he is an attractive target too. The London club are not exactly flush with cash and if they can bring in an experienced, Premier League-proven player to fill a problem position for a modest sum, it is worthy of some consideration.
