Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Receives Honest Take From Johnny Manziel

The Cleveland Browns have a potential quarterback of the future on their roster. Of course, that quarterback is none other than Shedeur Sanders.

While he slipped to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders has the talent to be a special quarterback. He was projected to be a first or second round pick for a reason. Simply because he slipped does not mean that his talent level is any less.

At this point, Sanders is involved in a four-man competition to earn the starting quarterback job. He is not currently the favorite to win the job for Week 1.

Outside of Sanders, the Browns have Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel in the quarterback room. Flacco is the current lead man for the season opener, with Pickett behind him. Gabriel has also been above Sanders on the depth chart.

Despite that fact, Sanders may have the most talent out of any of the four players.

Johnny Manziel, a former first-round pick who many in Cleveland thought would be a franchise quarterback, has spoken out about Sanders. He expects good things from the young signal caller.

"Honestly he can come out and win the job, I think he'll do well, I really do," Manziel said.

Sanders put together massive numbers throughout his four-year college career. He played two years at Jackson State before finishing his final two years with the Colorado Buffaloes.

Through those four years, he completed 70.1 percent of his pass attempts for 14,347 yards, 134 touchdowns, and just 27 interceptions. He took care of the football at an elite level and showed the poise and decision-making needed to be an NFL starter.

While there have been some questions about his arm talent, especially when it comes to strength, Sanders has started putting those concerns to rest. He has made some difficult throws down the field and has flashed more than enough arm strength to be successful.

There is still a lot of work to be done for him to get on the field as a rookie. However, he has already shown early on with the Browns that he wants to learn and he's willing to put in the work to be great.

It will be interesting to see what the 2025 season has in store for Sanders. Manziel is expecting great things from the rookie quarterback. Hopefully, he can prove Manziel right.
