Arsenal have reportedly been granted a “period of exclusivity” to sign Chloe Kelly on a free transfer from Manchester City this summer.
The England winger helped the Gunners win the UEFA Women’s Champions League after joining the club on a half-season loan deal in January.
The 27-year-old’s contract with Man City expires at the end of June and she is said to have numerous suitors in the Women’s Super League, Europe and the United States.
Arsenal given first refusal on Man City star Chloe Kelly
Arsenal are leading the chase, though, as Kelly has instructed her representatives to give the north London outfit first refusal in negotiations, The Athletic reports.
“Talks continue” over a potential three-year deal for when she becomes a free agent and there is a “high level of mutual respect” between the player and the club.
Sky Sports claim Arsenal are the only club Kelly is talking to, but there “remains a gap” on finances in negotiations. However, there is “optimism” that an agreement can be reached.
Manchester United retain interest in the former Everton attacker having tried to sign her in January, while Chelsea and clubs in Europe are “keeping up to speed” on the situation.
