Manchester United are reported to have joined the race to sign Lyon star Malick Fofana.
United have already made one new signing this summer, with Matheus Cunha arriving from Wolves after the club paid the £62.5million release clause in his contract.
Now plans will be well underway for further new additions to be made to Ruben Amorim's squad over the next couple of months.
The summer transfer window runs until September 1, which gives United plenty of time to get deals over the line. Fofana has become the latest name mentioned on the United transfer rumour mill as a potential target.
French news outlet L'Equipe have reported that United have entered the race to sign Fofana this summer and have expressed an interest in bringing the 20-year-old to Old Trafford.
Chelsea have been mentioned in the report as making an approach to Lyon about the possibility of signing Fofana, although no offer has been made for the Belgium international.
Liverpool are also mentioned in the report alongside United as showing an interest in Fofana. It is claimed the Premier League champions have opened talks with the player's representatives.
Lyon are reported to value Fofana at a fee greater than €50million (£42.7million). It has been speculated that there is a chance the forward will not be in attendance for Lyon's first day of pre-season training on July 7, due to reported interest from English clubs.
Fofana enjoyed an impressive season for Lyon last term, scoring 11 goals in all competitions.
The forward missed the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final against United with injury, but featured in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford and provided an assist as United ran out 5-4 winners on the night.
