One NBA Team Reported to Be Pursuing Kevin Durant More Aggressively Than Others

According to multiple reports, Kevin Durant wants the Phoenix Suns to trade him to the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets or Miami Heat.

However, the Suns can trade Durant anywhere since the NBA legend doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract.

A 15-time All-Star, Durant has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He won four scoring titles and the 2014 MVP Award with the Thunder and back-to-back rings and Finals MVPs with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018.

However, since leaving the Warriors for the Nets in 2019, Durant hasn't advanced past the second round of the playoffs. He's also been swept in the first round of the postseason twice.

One of the teams that swept Durant in the first round is the Minnesota Timberwolves, who beat the Suns in the first round of the 2024 playoffs.

According to Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic, the Timberwolves are the team "with the most interest" in trading for Durant.

The Suns might be placing too high a value on Durant and may have to reduce their asking price for the future Hall of Famer, per Rankin.

"The Suns have 'no leverage' in part because of Durant's age and because he wants to start fresh elsewhere, league sources say," Rankin wrote. "The idea of Durant returning to a team that entertained deals for him before the 2025 trade deadline isn’t a pleasant one.

"Looking at teams who have surfaced in trade talks, Minnesota has been viewed as the one with the most interest in Durant, league sources say."

Timberwolves star shooting guard Anthony Edwards has said multiple times that Durant is his favorite basketball player of all time.

Durant and Edwards were teammates last summer on Team USA.

According to Sam Amick and Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the Timberwolves will not trade for Durant if he’s “not on board with the move.” It will be fascinating to track this situation.
