Report: Liverpool to ask for £40m to sell Nottingham Forest target this summer

Nottingham Forest will go looking for a number of new players this summer, with European football on the cards for 2025/26.

The Reds enjoyed a brilliant campaign last season, finishing seventh in the Premier League after flirting with the Champions League for a number of months.

Now, it’s the UEFA Conference League that will be in the sights of Forest, with a first foray into Europe for 30 years now on the cards.

Igor Jesus will sign for Forest after the Club World Cup in the United States, with firepower very much the order of the day for the Reds.

It’s not just the attack that will be addressed during the transfer window, however, with a new centre-back likely to be in the club’s sights too.

Nottingham Forest discover Jarrell Quansah price from Liverpool

Forest are going to sign Jair Cunha from Botafogo, but at the moment, it’s not certain what will happen with him in the short term.

If Forest go in search of Quansah, he won’t come cheap. It’s been claimed by The Athletic that Liverpool will demand £40 million, with Bayer Leverkusen also keen to land him.

Quansah has fallen out of favour at Liverpool, and after 58 appearances for the Reds, they’re now considering a sale this summer if his valuation is met.

MORE FOREST STORIES

The defender is currently away with the England under-21s at the European Championships and he’s playing in the same team as Elliot Anderson.

Quansah is keen to play more football and although he’d probably do that at Forest, the club might be priced out by Liverpool with a central defender hardly considered a priority.

Forest have to walk away from Quansah pursuit

When the Reds landed Nikola Milenkovic last summer, he cost just £12 million to highlight the bargains that are on offer in other countries.

Quansah is a decent prospect, but with British players, there is always an inflation in transfer fees, and that’s what Forest are currently doing with their valuation of Morgan Gibbs-White.

Signing Quansah for £40 million wouldn’t be wise from a business perspective and also given that Forest don’t really need to sign a centre-back any time soon with a plethora of talent at the club.

Liverpool talent Quansah might well be one to watch but at £40 million, Forest simply can’t continue this chase with that money better off being spent elsewhere in the short term.
