Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race for Premier League defender. The player is very young and will cost £70 million. He is also wanted by Chelsea and Liverpool.
Spurs recently ended their trophy drought by winning Europa League. This helped them to qualify for Champions League despite finishing on 17th position. They are now planning to improve their squad and have already made some moves.
Spurs have appointed Thomas Frank as new manager. They are now planning to provide him with some top players. The North London side want to sign a new defender. Cristian Romero is said to leave the club. The Argentine is wanted by Atletico and he is open to join.
Tottenham join race for 22 year old English defender
The star in question here is Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton. He is 22 years old and is highly rated in Premier League. Last summer Man United tried to sign him but Everton rejected the bid. But, this has not stopped top clubs from lurking around the English defender.
Chelsea and Liverpool are both keen to sign Branthwaite. According to Daily Mail via Caught Offside, Spurs have now joined the race to sign him. The 22 year old can cost as highly as £70 million but that is not stopping the Europa League champions from exploring the move.
Branthwaite will be a very good addition to the Spurs squad. He can be a perfect replacement for Romero. In addition, he will be long term investment. But, the North London giants will face heavy competition from others.
Chelsea have defensive signings as top priority this summer. They are ready to sell multiple defenders to make way for new stars. On the other hand, Liverpool are desperate to find a long term replacement for Virgil van Dijk. They are also not impressed with Quansah.
