Report: Newcastle want to sign £325,000-a-week star, he’s willing to take a pay cut to move

Newcastle United are now eyeing a move to sign Man Utd outcast Marcus Rashford, and he is willing to take a paycut to seal a deal, according to CaughtOffside.

The Magpies are in the market to bolster their squad this summer after a fantastic 2024/25 season where they finished fifth in the Premier League to claim Champions League football, while they also ended their 70-year trophy drought by claiming the Carabao Cup with a win over Liverpool.

The attack is an area of the pitch that Eddie Howe is keen to strengthen during the transfer window, and now Rashford has emerged as someone the club are keeping an eye on.

Rashford, who reportedly earns around £325,000-a-week at Old Trafford currently, has been outcast by the Red Devils after falling out with manager Ruben Amorim last season, and now looks set to leave the club permanently this summer.

Having spent the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa in 2024/25, Rashford shone and proved he is still more than capable of impacting games at the highest level and that is something that Newcastle have taken notice of.

The England international remains out of the running under Amorim and Newcastle have now been mentioned as a potential destination for the 27-year-old. However, his current wages would represent an issue for the Magpies, who wouldn't be keen to break their wage structure.

But according to the report, Rashford would be ready to accept a cut in his wages in order to secure a move away from Manchester United this summer as he wants to play regularly and play in the Champions League.

There is yet to be a team that has taken the lead in the race for his signature, but Newcastle are certainly one to keep an eye on as the summer progresses.

Howe is also keen to bring in Brighton and Hove Albion sensation Joao Pedro, with the Seagulls expected to part ways with the Brazilian forward for around £60m after some disciplinary issues towards the end of the most recent campaign.
