Liverpool could be halfway to Victor Osimhen transfer as 2 players'already said yes'to swap

Liverpool could be halfway to securing a deal for Victor Osimhen this summer - if reports in Italy are to be believed, that is.

The Reds look to be going big in the summer transfer window after winning the Premier League title in Arne Slot’s first season in charge. Already, Jeremie Frimpong has been signed as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, while Florian Wirtz looks set to complete his move to Anfield this week.

Milos Kerkez shouldn’t be too far behind him either, with the left-back’s father having confirmed a deal is on with Liverpool, and Bournemouth’s signing of Adrien Truffert looks to have given the Reds the green light.

Liverpool might not be done there either, with more than two months of the window still to go, and still some areas in the squad that will need addressing.

A new No.9 is likely to be the next priority, although - having already gone big on Wirtz - the Reds may need to recoup some money first by offloading some players. Reports in Italy though suggest they may have found a way of killing two birds with one stone.

According to journalist Gerardo Fasano (via Area Napoli), a deal to bring Osimhen to Anfield could be in the works, with two players heading in the opposite direction.

It’s claimed that Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez have “already said yes” to the move to Napoli, although Osimhen’s approval to join Liverpool is need for the deal to go through. The two clubs are said to be working on the finer details of the exchange.

Osimhen has been linked with Liverpool before, and came close to signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side in 2019 only for a Napoli director to step in to secure the striker in dramatic fashion.

The 26-year-old’s relationship with the Italian club though has been strained for the last few years, and now seems to have reached the point of no return, with Osimhen having spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Galatasaray. With just a year remaining on his contract, this summer represents Napoli’s last opportunity to sell the striker.

Liverpool.com says: As good a deal as that might sound, that report should absolutely be taken with a large pinch of salt.

Swapping two players who could fetch a decent amount of money for Liverpool in return for one doesn’t sound like a deal the Reds would go in for. If they are eyeing up a swap to land Osimhen, then they’d likely want Napoli to throw in some money as well.

And Napoli will likely see an opportunity to make a lot of money on Osimhen, who shouldn’t be short of offers. Given everyone knows about the club’s strained relationship with its striker though, that might make things more difficult.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Osimhen this summer, although this doesn’t feel like a deal that will happen with Liverpool.
