Former NFL MVP rips Giants rookie’s lack of knowledge

Former NFL MVP Cam Newton heard that Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo didn’t recognize the name of Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson.

Newton called out Skattebo for his lapse in knowledge on his podcast, 4th&1.

“They not fans of the game,” the former NFL MVP said,via Sportskeeda. These kids -- they playing video games all day. Have you ever heard of Chad Ochocinco? Have you heard of Terrell Owens? Have you heard of Steve Smith? Have you heard of Prime Time?

“They’re looking at everything on YouTube. And granted, to Cam Skattebo’s defense, a lot of what he sees has been on probably YouTube. And he plays a sport that’s a mass sport.”

Newton went on to say that anyone who wants to play a professional sport should “30 minutes or an hour” a day on their sport.

In his 10-year career with the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots, Newton notched a Rookie of the Year Award (2011), a NFL MVP (2015), an Offensive Player of the Year (2015) and three Pro Bowl selections.
