Eintracht Frankfurt shotstopper Kaua Santos has claimed the Bundesliga club's "faith" in him convinced him to sign a new contract, even amidst reported interest from Manchester United.
Santos, 22, has quickly become one of Europe's most in-demand goalkeepers after making his debut in September 2024. Such is the Brazilian's burgeoning talent between the sticks, reports in Germany suggested that United were looking at Santos to replace current No. 1 Andre Onana.
German publication BILD claimed in April that United’s director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, even met with Frankfurt to discuss a £51 million transfer. However, Santos has committed his immediate future to the German outfit by signing a contract until 2030.
"The management in Frankfurt showed tremendous confidence in me," Santos said to Welt on his desire to stay in the Bundesliga. "They wanted to continue working with me before these rumors even surfaced.
"They still have a lot of faith in me here, so it was clear to me that I wanted to extend my contract. I want to establish myself as a goalkeeper, perform well, and achieve as much as possible."
The young goalkeeper left Brazilian club Flamengo to join Eintracht in 2023. He quickly became No 1, ousting long-time keeper Kevin Trapp.

While his development has been hit by a serious knee injury, which is expected to keep him out of action for the majority of 2025, he appears to be content where he is for the time being as he looks to help the club build on its recent success.
"The club has shown repeatedly with the DFB Cup and Europa League victories, as well as with our Champions League qualification great things are possible here," Santos added. "I want to help repeat such successes."
Meanwhile, Onana, 29, has continued to struggle for United this season, and speculation has intensified that he could move on this summer, with Ruben Amorim set for a rebuild after a poor season for the club. The Manchester Evening News understands that the club are "open" to offers for most players so they can sell to buy.
With rumours swirling over his status as United first choice goalkeeper, Onana himself has admitted he is unsure on whether he will stay at Old Trafford this summer.

"I don't know. We'll see," Onana said, when asked by Afrik-Foot on whether he could depart United this summer. Previous reports from The Athletic have claimed that he is likely to stay at the club however.
Despite claims that Amorim is looking to address his goalkeeping department, United's Portuguese boss publicly defended Onana following the Cameroonian's particularly error-strewn performance in the Europa League quarter-finals this season.
"It can happen," Amorim said about Onana's mistakes. "If you play football, you'll play a lot of games, and you can make mistakes. If you look at the season, I make more mistakes than them during these last games and these last months."
