Chelsea&Arsenal pull out from race to sign Spanish winger

Chelsea and Arsenal were both keen to sign Spanish winger. The player is very young but has played big role for both club and country. However, it seems that he will not land at London this summer.

The star in question here is Nico Williams of Athletic Club. He is 22 years old and mainly plays as left winger. Williams has been superb for both club and country in recent seasons. He helped Spain to win Euro 2024 and also reached Nations League final this year.

Williams is wanted by multiple top clubs this summer. The situation was same last summer but the 22 year old opted to stay at Bilbao. However, he is now ready to move-on with La Liga outfit ready to sell him if his release clause set at around €60 million is triggered.

Chelsea & Arsenal both pull out from Williams race

Nico Williams has interest from multiple top clubs across whole Europe. Firstly, he is long term target of all Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona. In addition, he is also wanted by Bayern Munich who missed to sign Florian Wirtz.

According to David Ornstein, both Arsenal and Chelsea have cooled their interest in Williams. In contrast, Barcelona have stepped up their interest. Williams is also leaning towards Barca move as he is tempted by their system. Lastly, Bayern have made contract offer and may improve it very soon.

Barcelona are in active talks to sign Nico Williams. But, they are finding it hard to match the required tranfer fee. Athletic Club are unwilling to agree the deal on installments. They want the fee to be paid fully in one installment.

🚨Barcelona have decided to try and activate the Nico Williams deal after getting the player’s total priority, according to @FabrizioRomano 👀
